THE WHEEL
October 8, 2019
FREEHOLD ROTARY CLUB

President Norma opened the meeting with the Salute to the Flag.
We began the meeting by singing God Bless America and Rev. Jon performed the invocation. We then recited the Four Way Test.

DICTIONARY PROJECT

The dictionaries were distributed to all of the third-grade students at the Park Avenue School.  They were thrilled to get them and thanked us for our generosity.  Thanks to Jon, Desiree, Pete, Norma, Don, Marv, Joe, Bill and Glenn for participating.

OCTOBER CROP WALK

Our club will be supporting the annual Crop Walk for Hunger which will take place on October 20th.
Join the 44th Freehold Area CROP Hunger Walk at 1:30 PM on Sunday, October 20th at The Reformed Church of Freehold, 67 West Main Street. The walk is co-sponsored by the Freehold Clergy Association and the Windsor Hightstown Area Ministerium, both interfaith groups.  To learn more, please visit their webpage at  https://www.crophungerwalk.org/freeholdnj

WORLD SERIES FUNDRAISER

Glenn is selling boxes for a chance to win in our annual World Series Fundraiser pool.  Proceeds from this fundraiser are used to offset our administrative costs.  Please see Glenn at our next meeting if you have not already participated.

HALLOWEEN PARTY FUNDRAISER—MORE TICKET SALES ARE NEEDED FOR A GOOD TURNOUT.

This year’s fundraiser party will be on Wednesday, October 30th.  Rich has already arranged for the venue and the DJ.  We need fellow Rotarians to help out by obtaining journal ads and selling tickets.  A letter has been created for your use and was emailed to each of you so that you can customize it by adding your name to the closing.   The funds raised will benefit the Freehold Rotary Foundation which has recently purchased and donated an outdoor movie projector for the Downtown Freehold summer movie night.

We also need to replenish foundation funds in order to provide scholarships to the vocational school and to sponsor high school students to RYLA.  The support of each our club members is crucial in making this fundraiser a success.

Tickets were distributed and will be available at all future meetings.  It would be great if we could each sell 6 tickets.  They are $35 and the event will begin at 7:00 PM at the 618 Restaurant located at 618 Park Ave (RT 33) Freehold.

Gift basket donations are also needed.

Note:  October 30th will be here before we know it.  Please turn in your ticket sales to Art Gurtman, our Club Treasurer.

DUES

New dues invoices were emailed to each of you on October 1st.  If you still have not paid the invoice from July 1st, please do so today!
